Summer Hiking Outfit

I typically don't slow down much in the summer. Hiking adventures usually revolve around water in the warm months for two reasons.. One, to stay hydrated! And two, to cool off!! So what do I wear on these summer hikes?

Wicking racerback shirts! When I'm sweating I'm not a fan of clingy fabrics. I like a little flow. And sweat drying quickly is a huge must! As you've probably read 1627483 times already, cotton is a big no no in the hiking community. And in the warm months I completely agree! Cotton will get wet from your sweat and hold in body heat causing you to over heat!

Bicycle shorts with pockets! I love love looovvee not chaffing. These short stay put! They don't rise up or down so if you have some thigh rub (like, well, most of us) this is the solution for the thigh burn!

Synthetic Undies! Honest truth, anything but cotton.. PLEASE stear clear of the cotton panties in the heat! Let me explain.. Cotton tends to hold moisture.. makes a nice towel right! We need to breath down there! But with added the extra sweat on top normal moisture levels our daily cotton undies just won't cut it! Stay healthy down there! If you're irrated by synthetics check out this wool pair!

Yes, you read it right! I wear wool socks in the summer too! Wool is more than comfy sweaters. Wool is breathable, moisture wicking, regulates temperature, and naturally antimicrobial so less stinky. Now if you wade the creek in your wool socks they will not dry as quickly as a synthetic but they wick normal feet sweat better than a synthetic.

Ok I know, it's not clothing. But I love you and I don't want this tiny insect to be the thing that takes you off trail! Late spring and early summer ticks are at they're peak! They tend to just be waiting on the end of tall grass for us to take them away. These tiny creatures carry a few diseases but Lyme Disease is the most common! Please read up on the symptoms and attach one of these tick removers to your keys or pack just incase. They're extremely small, light weight, and inexpensive.. so no excuses!

You may have noticed I didn't touch on bras.. Wear your most comfortable NON-COTTON bra lol. There is no one size fits most, much less all, in this category! I will tell you that my most favorite sports bra was sold at a big box store like 5 years. Now I'm digging through thrift store bins and constantly searching on ebay for my unicorn!

Remember in the summer heat the goals are to stay hydrated, don't over heat, and check for ticks!!

Full disclosure: Products are affiliate links but they're really the items I use on trail. And I'll be the first to tell you if they aren't a product I have or currently use.. and why lol.

The prices of items from my links are no different than if you had found them on your own but I do receive a small commission when you make a purchase after clicking a link.

ALSO I am no writer, but I'm hoping this helps me put my thoughts into words.
